Better Wi-Fi at Home and Work: Mesh Systems & Access Points
Dead zones, dropouts and slow video calls usually aren't your internet plan's fault. They come from one router trying to cover a whole house or office. The fix is to add more Wi-Fi points: a mesh system at home, or ceiling access points at work. Here is how to choose.
Mesh or access points?
- Mesh systems (TP-Link Deco) are the easiest option for homes and small offices. Two or three units work as one network with a single name, set up from a phone app.
- Ceiling access points (TP-Link Omada) suit offices, shops and larger homes. They are powered by PoE from a single network cable and managed centrally.
How many units?
- Apartment or small home: 1–2 units.
- 3–4 bedroom house: 2–3 units. Double brick or multiple levels usually need 3.
- Where you can, connect units with network cable (wired backhaul). Speed is noticeably better, especially with PoE models.
